Sponge filters offer reliability and hassle-free operation. With no moving parts, all you need is an air pump with some airline tubing, and you've got a filter that is fully contained within your aquarium.  Sponge filters are completely reusable, don't need any replacement cartridges, and last for several years. Plus, they are gentle enough for betta fish, baby fry, shrimp, and other slow-moving species. Trusted by fish farms and wholesalers, they are an excellent choice for aquarium filtration that you can set and forget.

To optimize the sponge filter’s performance, we’ve included an air collar that replaces the need for an air stone and minimizes bubbles coming out of the side of the sponge. The air collar produces smaller bubbles that lessen noise and create more continuous current. If you need greater water circulation, use the included Easy Flow accessory that curves the uplift tube so that water flows out of the sponge filter horizontally across the water surface and around the aquarium.

The Aquarium Co-Op sponge filter is designed using coarse foam so that it can go many weeks between cleanings. The weighted base will immediately sink to the bottom of your aquarium, so no more floating up after a water change or initial installation. Also, the green plastic helps hide algae and blend in with your live aquarium plants.

Excellent product & improved flow

I have 3 of these already in my main aquarium approximately 55 gallons built by custom aquariums which has done very well. These are the only filters in the tank. They are powered by AC USB nano pumps. It’s a planted tank and plants and fish are thriving. The new ones are in my 10 gallon shrimp tank with live plants. I’m using 2 small sponge filters with the upgrades and the shrimp and plants are doing wonderfully.
Thanks Aquarium Co-Op!

Best Filter Upgrade!

Applause to Aquarium Co-op! The new sponge filter answers several problems. The algae growth on the top glass will be controlled with no water popping up. The gentle current on the water surface is very nice. The air flow through the sponge filter is greatly improved! And so easy to adjust and install. Looks good too.
Thank you!!!!!

A good solid filter

Everything appears well made, components fit together perfectly and it seems to have a reasonable flow rate. I haven't had it long enough to see if the coarser sponge makes it difficult/impossible to clog, but I see ne reason why that wouldn't be the case.

Excellent filter!

This is my third Co-op sponge filter and works just as well as the others, better in fact! The new design generates more water flow for the aquarium and I’ve noticed a huge difference! Using it in my angelfish grow out tank.
